While the capture of Jesse Leroy Matthew may not have led police to finding Hannah Graham, it has apparently given them a "significant break" in a 2009 homicide.

According to CNN, Virginia State Police would not disclose the details of the homicide case, but said there is a "new forensic link." Like Graham, Morgan Harrington was a college student in the state of Virginia, though she had attended Va. Tech.

Harrington, 20, went missing in Oct. 2009 after leaving a Metallica concert in Charlottesville, the town of the bar in which Graham, 18, was last seen Sept. 13. Harrington's remains were found on a farm months after disappearing.

Police issued a warrant for Matthew's, 32, arrest last Tuesday and he was found in Texas. He was then moved to Charlottesville, where he is currently being held in isolation, on Friday when he said he would agree to extradition.

On the night of Sept. 13, Graham texted a friend that she got lost on her way from one party to another, then was later seen leaving a bar with Matthew. Now the 32-year-old is charged with her abduction.

Graham is a student at the University of Virginia, where Matthew is a hospital worker, USA Today reported. A staff member in the bar where they were seen together reportedly told an investigator Graham appeared to be inebriated, leaning on Matthew for support in staying upright.

James Camblos, Matthew's attorney, did not respond for comment, the Associated Press reported. Matthew's first court appearance on the charge of abduction with intent to defile is scheduled for Thursday. He is currently being held without bond at the Charlottesville-Albemarle Regional Jail.
