A promising young quarterback who had yet to see the field, Kevin Olsen is no longer a student at the University of Miami (UM) following his third suspension since the end of last season.

According to the Miami Herald, neither side said whether or not it was Olsen's choice to leave UM. The 19-year-old backup quarterback was suspended at the end of last season for a violation of team rules then again for the first two games of this season.

Saturday's matchup with Arkansas State was the first time this season he dressed in uniform for a UM Hurricanes football game, though he did not play. He was suspended once again Monday after being arrested for driving under the influence and possessing a false driver's license, ESPN reported.

"Kevin Olsen is no longer a student at the University of Miami," UM said in a written statement. "We wish him the very best in the future."

Al Golden, the Hurricanes head football coach, had a long history with the Olsen family and got to know Kevin when he recruited his brothers. Golden told the Herald he saw Kevin play when he was nine and 10 years old while recruiting Greg Olsen, a former UM player now in the NFL.

Kevin was a four-star quarterback recruit in the class of 2017 from Fort Wayne, N.J. Knowing the family well and knowing Kevin Olsen's potential as a young QB made him sad to see him go.

"Right now this is about Kevin and his family and we need to respect that and I have no doubt that he'll be back," Golden said of Kevin Olsen. "He needs this time to look at himself and move forward. I have no doubt that with the support of his family, his brothers, his mom and dad and obviously those of us that know him really well, there's no question that he's going to have the right ending at the end of this.

"He's going to win in the end. He'll come out on top."
