Mo'Ne Davis' show in the Little League World Series (LLWS) this year may have many thinking of per potential as a ballplayer, but her aspirations are apparently on the hardcourt.

According to the Hartford Courant, Davis had a message for UConn women's head basketball coach Geno Auriemma that should make his recruiting work a bit easier. The 13-year-old girl who is lighting up the radar gun is a basketball player at heart and she already knows which school she would like her alma mater to be.

"I want to go to UConn and be the point guard on the basketball team. That's like my dream and then [to] go into the WNBA," Davis told ESPN last week. "That's for Geno. Geno has to know."

Davis is currently playing for Taney Dragons, a predominantly black little league baseball team from Philadelphia. She grabbed the nation's attention when she threw a two-hit shutout in a LLWS game in which she struck out eight batters, thanks to her 70-mph heater.

"If I do stay in baseball," Davis said, "hopefully, I can be a professional pitcher."

Priscilla Sands, president of Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, the school where Davis will soon enter the eighth grade, admires the young phenom's attitude and competitive edge.

"The balance she walks is the loveliest thing," Sands told ESPN. "She doesn't say, 'This has nothing to do with me being a girl.' She understands she's a role model, but at the same time says, 'I'm as good as any boy.'"

Davis acknowledged that she has noticed the attention and the praise, but is just trying to focus on one game at a time, adding she did not expect to be a role model in the sport of baseball at her age. Davis and her teammates most recently registered a thrilling 7-6 win over Pearland, Texas and they are scheduled to play Las Vegas on Wednesday night.

As for Auriemma, NCAA rules will more than likely prohibit him from expressing interest in recruiting Davis, but her statements must have made him happy.
