On the eve of Team USA's basketball training camp, power forward Kevin Love has announced he will not take part in the 2014 FIBA World Cup.

According to ESPN, Love has demanded a trade from his NBA team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, but has yet to receive his wish. Due to his "current status," USA Basketball confirmed that Love will not be participating in the international tournament set to begin in Spain next month.

"The fact is we can only look to the players we have available," Jerry Colangelo, USA Basketball National Team managing director, said in the announcement. "Our job is to get the job done with our very, very deep roster, and we're anxious to get things started."

With Duke University's head men's basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski once again at the lead, Team USA is scheduled to open training camp Sunday at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Krzyzewski will have several NBA All-Stars on his roster as well as an impressive group of assistant coaches, including Syracuse' Jim Boeheim, the Chicago Bulls' Thibodeau and the New Orleans Pelicans' Monty Williams.

Team USA also announced that Blake Griffin will no longer be taking part in the FIBA World Cup and that John Wall would replace him, leaving the Americans with just four big men. Krzyzewski had to cut the roster from 18 to 12 before the team travels to Spain, so no one will likely take Love's place.

Love is currently in limbo, as he has made it clear he does not want to play in Minnesota any longer. However, his team has not picked a trade package yet and they do not appear close to doing so. Currently, ESPN reports the Cleveland Cavaliers have the most intriguing package since they can offer Andrew Wiggins.

The top pick in the NBA Draft, Cleveland signed Wiggins to a rookie contract, meaning he cannot be dealt for 30 days. While several other teams want to trade for Love, Cleveland holds the upper hand if they are willing to part with Wiggins.

"You can't just sit around and cry in your beer regarding who you don't have," Colangelo told ESPN. "You look at what you do have and you say, 'We're going to get the job done.' We feel very confident about our opportunity. We're ready for it.

"He really wanted to play. He was truly remorseful about it. But the circumstances just don't allow it."
