Joe Mixon, a five-star running back recruit for the Oklahoma Sooners, is at the center of an aggravated assault investigation involving a female student who says her face has four broken bones.

According to the Oklahoman, Mixon was at Pickleman's Gourmet Café, a restaurant near the University of Oklahoma (OU), Thursday night celebrating his 18th birthday. The Norman Police arrived early Friday morning after reports that a woman was punched in the face, but they made no arrests and did not name the suspect.

Unnamed sources within the Norman Police Department (NPD) told Rivals.com that Mixon "was involved in a serious altercation." The NPD is currently studying surveillance footage before taking any official action and the school is currently aware that at least one student was involved.

"We are aware of the matter and it is under internal review," an OU spokesman told Rivals.

The police identified Amelia Rae Molitor as the victim and she told the Oklahoman Mixon was the one who hit her, though she had never seen her before that night. She said she was at the restaurant at the same time as Mixon and his group was. Molitor said the running back recruit and people at his table were harassing her and her friends.

Like many involved in the case, Molitor is waiting on the NPD's impending decision, but she said she intends to press charges against Mixon.

"He punched me one time," she told the Oklahoman. "He broke my face in four places... my nose, my sinuses... they're broken."

She said her only fear in the whole matter is how Sooners football fans will react. With the up-and-coming star running back under investigation, Molitor said she knows she will have to lay low for a while.

"That's my big fear (the fans)," Molitor said. "I've been told to stay off of social media to avoid (OU fans) coming after me on there."

According to the police report, a copy of which the newspaper obtained, Molitor was intoxicated, though she never lost consciousness and the injuries listed line up with her claim.

Kevin Finaly, an attorney in Norman, said Mixon contacted him shortly after the incident occurred and that the NPD were investigating, but had not made any arrests.

"We are cooperating, fully, with the police on this," Finlay told the Oklahoman. "Joe is definitely looking forward to the truth coming out... that's about all I can say at this time."

The Oklahoman reported that Mixon was displaying a great attitude and work ethic thus far for the Sooners, but ESPN's Travis Haney reported something quite the opposite via Twitter.
