Kristen Tunno has been named as the new head softball coach at Glenville State College. Tunno succeeds Mandy Sansbury who took the same position at the University of Mount Olive.

"I am excited to begin promoting the vision and future of Pioneer Softball," Tunno said in a statement.

Tunno joins Glenville State community after serving as an assistant softball coach at Davis & Elkins, where she led the team to an overall record of 80-105 from 2011 to 2014.

The native of Seaford, Virginia, graduated from Grafton High School in 2007 where she was named first team all-state in both softball and volleyball.

Tunno then went on to complete a bachelor's degree in Sports & Business Administration from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania in the Spring of 2011.

She had an exceptional playing career at IUP. Crimson Hawks was part of an NCAA Division II bid to the World Series and was named PSAC Conference Champions and NCAA Division II Atlantic Super Regional Champions. Tunno was a three-time All-PSAC Central first team selection in 2009, 2010, and 2011 and was a member of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region team in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

She is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Business Administration at the American Public University.

"I think that Kristen brings all the tools and skills to lead our Glenville State Lady Pioneer Softball team," said Director of Athletics Janet Bailey.

The school's sports teams are known as Pioneers and Lady Pioneers, and they will compete in the new Mountain East Conference following the disbandment of West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) last year.
