University of Texas (UT) Longhorns head football coach Charlie Strong has announced the dismissal of four players for an unspecified violation of team rules.

According to ESPN, Strong dismissed Josh Turner (safety), Jalen Overstreet (running back) and Chevoski Collins (defensive back). Orangebloods.com reported Joe Bergeron (running back) was the fourth player dismissed.

UT has not officially announced the suspensions, but multiple sources have confirmed to more than one news outlet of the dismissals. The dismissals of Overstreet and Bergeron may have been academic, as ESPN reported both players had trouble in that area.

Strong dismissed two other players - Chet Moss (fullback) and Leroy Scott (defensive back) - in March, meaning he has now removed six players from the team that hired him in Jan. The news also broke days after Strong announced the indefinite suspensions of Kendall Sanders and Montrel Meander (both wide receivers) for being arrested and charged with sexual assault.

Bergeron was kept out of the Longhorns' spring activities for bad grades, but Strong was seemingly upbeat about his senior running back's progress.

"You think about Bergeron," Strong told the Austin American-Statesman. "You took spring ball away from him. Joe's back; he's done an unbelievable job."

The newspaper reported Tuesday that Strong had announced the dismissal of four unnamed players, though he did not later confirm who they were. But they were barred from the team's workout facility and instructed to see strength coach Pat Moorer to register themselves for random drug tests.

Moss, Bergeron and Overstreet's dismissal depletes the Longhorns' depth at tail back, leaving Malcolm Brown and Jonathan Gray on their own. Strong said during the offseason that Gray has been cleared medically to play after rehabbing from an Achilles injury.

"Look at the running back position, you have Malcolm Brown, who is here right now," Strong said at the Big 12 Media Days event Tuesday. "[Jonathan] Gray has been cleared and he'll be ready when fall camp starts."
