Blizzard is getting some big news for this week. Overwatch will not be getting any new events in year 2. The news comes just as Blizzard and Overwatch fans are set to celebrate the game's Anniversary event next week.

Blizzard's multiplayer first-person shooter game won't have any new events in year 2. Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan has recently joined a moderator run subreddit interview, where he explained that Blizzard will be focusing more on refining the events that already been created and may not create any new events in the future.

In the said interview, the game director has been asked about repeating seasonal events and also about the development team's plans for introducing additional events. Fortunately, Kaplan made some good explanation about the reveal, saying that the Overwatch team needs to be "careful about the so-called event fatigue.

The game directory also added that the Overwatch team will need to take its foot off the gas pedal when it comes to Overwatch events. Meanwhile, Blizzard has just announced that Overwatch's animated shorts are set for a return in Season 2 and that the Overwatch team is already working on it. Blizzard's Jeff Kaplan made the confirmation in a recent press event, the Polygon reported.

In other Overwatch-related news, 3 new additional maps have been revealed this week. Reports said that several Overwatch Twitter accounts have been uploaded a new teaser video, showing three brand-new Overwatch maps coming t the Arena mode.

According to IGN, the three new maps will be revealed as a part of the game's Anniversary celebration event. These are the Dorado, Anubis, and Eichenwald, all are reportedly coming to arena mode.

In addition to the new maps, a datamine work last week might hint something new. The recent datamining works hint something new about the first-person shooter game, suggesting a whole new game mode.

The Overwatch Anniversary event will start on May 23, and the event will start alongside a new Game of the Year edition and some new items in standard loot boxes. Reports said that the new items in standard loot boxes could be the legendary Symmetra skin.
