NBA Legend Magic Johnson Returns To Central State University; Donates Millions To School [VIDEO]

Magic Johnson, one of the greatest NBA (National Basketball Association) to ever play the game, will return to Central State University on Thursday. "Magic" appears to be the honorary chairperson for the school's $30 million capital campaign two years ago.

According to WHIO TV, the NBA legend helped cut the ribbon on the $33 million University Student Center last 2015. In the same year, Magic Johnson vowed to donate to the newly launched capital campaign of the Central State University.

The NBA star, who is also the owner of the Dayton Dragons, has been involved in philanthropic activities in Springfield. As a matter of fact, he flew four students and chaperones from the Springfield Neighborhood Promise program to Walt Disney World in Florida. This was part of the reward given to the students who maintained B averages throughout the 2015 school year.

On the other hand, per Dayton Daily News, "Magic's" food service company, SodexoMAGIC, supplies the Springfield Medical Center and the Central State University. For the record, Thursday's event will begin at 5:30 p.m. It will take place on the second floor of the University Student Center.

Born as Earvin Johnson Jr. on August 14, 1959, he played as a point guard for the Los Angeles Lakes for 13 seasons. He was the first overall pick in the 1979 NBA draft. In his rookie season, he already won a championship and was declared as the NBA Finals MVP (Most Valuable Player).

Johnson won four more championships with the Lakers after that. His retirement came in quite too soon in 1991 after announcing that he had HIV. Nevertheless, Johnson returned to play in the 1992 All-Star Game, winning the All-Star MVP award that year. After receiving protests from other players, he retired again for four years, but returned in 1996, to play 32 more games at age 36. His third retirement was the final call of his career.
