Cornell University Invites Students For Spring 2017 Splash! [VIDEO]

Cornell University's Splash program helps bring middle and high school students to the university in Ithaca for one Saturday to take classes in any subject. The subjects are taught by talented Cornell undergraduates. Teachers choose their own class topics and content, which allows them to teach on what they're most passionate about.

Registration for the spring event on April 29 has already been opened. Students may sign up for classes, which include Striking a Chord: The Joy of Singing Together, Crash Course in Tissue Engineering and Artificial Organs, Photonics 101, John Laurens: The Revolutionary War Soldier with Revolutionary Ideas, Designing Technology for Social Impact and Make a Splash! (How to Organize an Event).

Splash is an open style of learning that is designed to let students explore anything that they are passionate about. Splash has over 50 classes to choose from. It is for 7th to 12th graders and for homeschooled students the minimum age is 12 years old.

Classes will run on April 29, sign-in will be open beginning at 9 a.m. All students are invited to the opening keynote at 10 a.m. in the Plant Sciences Building, where check-in will also take place. Classes will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Splash will utilize a first-come, first-serve system for assigning classese to students. To register, log in to a student account and visit the Cornell website or click here. For the catalog, click here.

The program costs $25, which will go toward families to whom the cost migt prove financially burdensome. All students will receive a Splash! T-shirt, lunch and a notepad, The Ithaca Voice reported.
