Every April 22^nd of the year, colleges and universities from across the country celebrate Earth Day to raise awareness and express gratitude for everything that our planet has to offer. This year, Ball State University added a new twist to the celebration.

Because it is the Earth Day and the final exams are fast approaching, Ball State held the "Puppies for the Planet" on April 21, USA Today College reported. The said event was hosted by Ball State's Pi Kappa Phi fraternity and the university's Partnership for Student Sustainable Advancement.

The exciting Puppy Experience was held between 1pm to 5pm, according to Ball State Daily, where the students were very excited to gather around to get a chance to hold, pet and be licked by adorable group of puppies.

The sophomore Joe DiCola, the fraternity's philanthropy chair said that since everybody gets stressed when the finals is upcoming, they have thought that it would be nice to have everyone come out and support a good cause as while do something fun and enjoyable out of it too.

The annual puppy experience event was able to raise $501.76 for The Ability Experience, which is an organization that supports people with disabilities.

DiCola said that they believe it was a good cause and they had a lot of learning in the process, while they were trying to get things organized.

There were also other crafts and games that were facilitated by other organizations in the Ball State and in the local community.

Junior Mason Thomas, president of Ball State's Pi Kappa Phi fraternity said that they believe it is just very timely that they decided to have puppies during the Earth Day so that students can gather together to de-stress while learning about the environment at the same time.
