Career Expo 2017 To Offer More Than 2,000 Jobs [VIDEO]

This year's Western New York Career Expo on April 26, more than 60 businesses will be offering over 2,200 job opportunities. The expo will showcase businesses from several employment sectors. Mostly include warehouse and transportation, health care, manufacturing and finance.

Career Expo 2017 will be held at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, which is located at 701 E. Delavan Ave., Buffalo. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It also marks the first year anniversary of the Western New York Employment Strikeforce.

The Career Expo has helped almost 4,000 individuals find employment since it began. The New York State Department of Labor showed their support by adding additional business services staff to perform outreach and provide job placement services at the their five new satellite locations.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo said on Monday that the Western New York Employment Strikeforce has successfully connected thousands of job seekers with local companies. He said that the team added further momentum to the region's economic revival.

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul agrees that the Gov. Cuomo's strategy to grow job opportunities across New York State is working. She said she has watched how the Career Expo helped with employment growth with its resurgence.

The WIVB reported the Career Expo will be presented by the New York State Labor Department in partnership with the Concerned Clergy Coalition of WNY. Training providers, community-based organizations, and clergy will provide supportive services at the event.

The event will cover resume assistance and one-on-one interviews with exhibiting businesses. The State Labor Department will also be offering on-site workshops which include "Find Success with Jobs Express" and "Rewarding Careers in Civil Service".
