'Battlefield 1' Update: EA Shares New Details About The Game, Including New Map, Soissons Works & Upcoming Spring Update [VIDEO]

Electronic Arts have some big news for "Battlefield 1" fans. The popular first-person shooter game is about to get some major update in the next couple of weeks. EA made the huge announcement this week, revealing a new map multiplayer DLC map.

The Redwood City-based gaming company this week made a major announcement for 'Battlefield 1." The company has just revealed to the world a new night time multiplayer DLC map for "Battlefield 1" Premium Pass holders. The upcoming new map, which will be released in June, will be called Nivelle Nights, which named after bloody Neville offensive during First World War, GameRant reported.

Based on the World history books, the Nivelle Offensive was a massive, combined British-French operation that took place on the Western European front in the spring of 1917, during the First World War. This combined British-French operation was intended to be strategically decisive. It was created on single purpose- to break and pierce through the impregnable German perimeter defense on the Aisne front. While the combined British-French operation was initially successful, the operation as a whole was not as decisive as expected by many war planners, and the heavy losses taken led to mutinies throughout the French Army, according to PC Gamer.

According to developer EA DICE, the game's Premium Pass owners will be receiving a brand new map for free this coming June. However, there still no words on the exact release date. To give Battlefield 1 fans an idea as to what to expect from the upcoming map, the developer this week released some fresh new images of the new area.

Additionally, EA has also announced last week that, starting May of this year, "Battlefield 1" fans will start receiving monthly updates, rather than seasonal updates. For the month of May, the update will be dedicated to "quality of life" improvements that will make "Battlefield 1" more balanced and fair.

Meanwhile, the game's upcoming Spring update is set to be a huge rework of many of Battlefield 1's mechanics, including the much-talked platoon system. The platoon system, which already present in both "Battlefield 3" and Battlefield 4" games, will allow "Battlefield 1" players to join together under a single banner to achieve its goal, according to EA DICE.

In addition to the new Neville Nights map, the game's Soissons map, which has been added in "They Shall Not Pass," is scheduled for changes in the upcoming April patch. The developer wanted the map to feel like a struggle to defend, while still remaining defendable. The game's lead designer Peter Vesti Frendrup shared his insight about Soissons map on Reddit, explaining the works to the "Battlefield 1" fans.

Developer EA DICE also released some additional concept art of the next "Battlefield 1" expansion, "In the Name of the Tsar." The new expansion is said to take place somewhere in the freezing Eastern Front. The upcoming expansion is said to focus on the Russian Army fighting a well-equipped and well-trained enemy forces (Germans) in the vast Russian wasteland.

Developed by EA DICE and published by Electronic Arts, "Battlefield 1" is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Check out the "They Shall Not Pass" trailer.
