Facebook Messenger Is Finally Testing A 'Dislike' Button, Here's How It Works

By

Mark Zuckerburg has finally released a "Dislike" button after years of requests from persistent users. However, it is not functional in the news feed but on the Facebook Messenger app.

People have been clamoring for a "thumbs down" icon even if Zuckerberg already released the "Reactions" toolbar. These emojis eventually dominated the Facebook Messenger as well. To illustrate, users now have the opportunity to reply to friends with quick and simple stickers.

Facebook Messenger & the 'Dislike' option

Tech Crunch reported that Facebook Messenger is now testing an all-new 'Reactions' feature. Users can add emojis in conversations by clicking a particular key next to the text. A series of reactions then pops up.

The choices do not differ much from the six current "Reactions" buttons when posting on the timeline. Nevertheless, Facebook Messenger is a little more special because of the thumbs down icon. Moreover, it includes a reaction counter, which lists the number of reactions accumulated at any given time.

For the record, the Facebook Messenger "Reactions" feature does not yet appear for all users. Although, the company assures that it is only conducting tests firsts before rolling it out to the majority of the online community.

'No' button instead of 'Dislike' - Facebook messenger

According to The Verge, even if the "thumbs down" key is one of the most demanded updates on Facebook Messenger, the firm does not want to inject too much negativity. Obviously, it never built one until this year. Consequently, as Zuckerberg finally approves the "Dislike" button on Facebook Messenger, he wants to call it a "No" button to downplay the pessimism.

Facebook Messenger is actually running the testers for logistics and voting since people on the app often use it for planning and coordination. The 'Dislike' button could really be a Yes or No option disguised as the "thumbs down". The current "Reactions" are the Like (thumbs up), Love (heart eyes), Lol (Laughing face), Wow (wide mouth), Sad (curved-down lips), and Angry (red-faced emoji).
