Writing a college research paper is far from writing papers in high school because it will require a more in depth analysis which entails more time and efforts when it comes to research. It may be difficult at first but once you have learned how to follow the steps, it will just become a lot easier.

If you do not know the best place to get started, begin with preparing for a lot of note papers, different colors of highlighters and index cards, according to College Xpress.

Carmen Cole, the research consultant in the College of Information Sciences and Technology (IST) shares with PennState her expertise to help students manage the entire research process, as well as tips to keep IST and all Penn State students make writing a research a lot easier and more manageable.

Start Early

Cole said that research paper is not something that can be finished overnight so you have to make sure that you give yourself ample time to finish. It requires plenty of time to look for reliable sources for your research so find a way to help yourself stay on track.

Use multiple, but reliable sources

When you write a research paper, you have to be very knowledgeable about the topics you cover and that means you have to do a lot of research and rely on several sources. Also make sure your sources are credible and accurate.

Maximize resources from your university

In your school, there are various places where you find help. And aside from seeking help from consultants like Cole, you can also try reaching out to your professor or some programs in your college who offer assistance to their peers who need help in some of their classes. Do not hesitate to ask for help. It will all be worth it.
