‘Gears Of War 4’ Latest Update Brings New Maps & 280 Cards! How To Remove Rage Quitting Penalty

By

Microsoft has released the latest patch notes for "Gears of War 4." It brings two new maps, hundreds of new customization cards, new weapon skins and more.

The new "Gears of War 4" patch rolled out on Jan. 10, developer The Coalition stated in a forum post. The new maps are called Blood Drive and Clocktower, according to Microsoft's announcement on Xbox Wire.

"Blood Drive" contains the decrepit "Diner of the Morgue" building, a pharmacy and a burger joint -- all of which were wrecked by the Swarm. Protruding structures and stairways serve as hiding places for players in pursuit of enemies and use the "Dropshot" weapon on them, Digital Trends reported.

"Clocktower" showcases the huge tower standing tall amongst derelict streets crawling with the Swarm. Players can use the "Bank of Bronn," big ATMs and concrete pillars as hiding spots while they kill enemies.

The latest "Gears of War 4" patch notes introduced the Gear Pack Season 2 content, which comes with 280 new customization cards. Thirteen new character cards such as Armored Anya, Armored Sam and a zombie version of Minh also came.

Another legacy character card will be announced by Microsoft "very soon." The cards can be created using the "Gears of War 4" Scrap items.

"Gears of War 4" players now have access to more than 260 new weapon skins across 13 skin sets thanks to the update. Those include the "Lightning" skin and the "Chillin" weapon set. Many of those weapon skins are animated. Check out the new Series 2 cards below.

Season pass owners will get a pack laden with 20 Gear Packs that comes with 60 random Series 2 cards. Eligible "Gears of War 4" players will get the new collection on Jan. 13. Season pass owners will also receive a free Bounty Gear Pack every Friday by logging in to their accounts.

The latest "Gears of War 4" patch brings punishment for rage quitters, or those teammates who bail out in the midst of a fight the moment their team appears to be on the losing end.

Players who quit a Core or Competitive round will be slapped with a temporary matchmaking ban that will last longer the more the player does it. Redemption is possible, though.

A Join in the Progress feature gives a second chance by allowing impulsive players to return to a match within five minutes of dropping out. This erases penalties and also helps players with intermittent internet connection.
