2016 Best NBA Team: Golden State Warriors or Cleveland Cavaliers?

By

The 2016 best NBA team is between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavaliers won the 2016 NBA title after becoming the first team to come back from a 3-1 deficit. Despite losing, the Golden State Warriors are the heavy favorites to win the NBA title this season after the acquisition of Kevin Durant.

The Cleveland Cavaliers, according to NBA.com, are once again on top of the Eastern Conference. They are the 2016 best NBA team after winning the title and they are expected to cruise through the Eastern Conference playoffs once again as no team in the East made any significant changes. They also did not make any major changes in their lineup in the offseason aside from adding Mike Dunleavy Jr. and letting go of Matthew Dellavedova after the Milwaukee Bucks signed him to a big contract that he deserved for his defensive work of two-time MVP Stephen Curry.

The Golden State Warriors, according to ESPN, are leading the Western Conference with the San Antonio Spurs a couple of games back. Barring any injuries, they are not only expected to win the NBA title this year but next year as well. So many have called them the 2016 best NBA team because of how good their execution is offensively. Their defense is also rounding into form as Draymond Green is starting to campaign to become Defensive Player of the Year.

Another team deserving of being in the discussion of 2016 best NBA team is the San Antonio Spurs. Despite losing Tim Duncan to retirement in the 2016 offseason, they are still the same old Spurs. The team, led by Kawhi Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge, have taken care of business perfectly with the addition of Pau Gasol as the starting center. They are expected to challenge the Golden State Warriors for the Western Conference crown.
