Pokemon GO never left after all. Generation 2 update welcomes new Pokemon from the Johto era, including the pre-evolved Pichu, Togepi, Igglypuff, Cleffa, Magby, Smoochum and Elekid. The event kicks off on Christmas Day and ends on the 3rd of January meaning another event for the New Year may overlap.

Going back to Pokemon GO Generation 2 cuties, they may be acquired through hunting and hatching. According to IGN video report, 2-kilometer eggs will hatch Cleffa and Igglypuff. Pichu and Togepi will come out for a 5-kilometer walk. And 10-kilometer eggs gives a high chance of hatching Elekid, Magby and Smoochum.

Meanwhile, current Poke-eggs in trainers' possession do not have the chance of hatching Johto era Pokemon. The Generation 2 pets will be available at PokeStops during the Christmas event. The update also allows Johto Pokemon to trade candies with their evolved forms. An example to these is an Elektabuzz candy can be used to evolve an Elekid.

Niantic adds more PokeStops and Gyms for US trainers through Sprint and Starbucks outlets participating to Pokemon GO. Generation 2 hopefuls have a higher chance of finding eggs in these host stores, Entertainment Weekly reported.

The overlapping New Year's event start in the afternoon of December 30th to the afternoon of January 8th. During this time, trainers will have the opportunity to encounter original starter Pokemon from the pioneer Kanto region - Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Venusaur, Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise., BGR added Plus, Pokemon GO Lure Modules will have an increase to its effectiveness time from 30 minutes up to 60 minutes.

Meanwhile, Niantic announced on Facebook that its iPhone and Android versions are having an update to 1.21.0 and 0.51.0, respectively. This update modified incorrect vibration notifications; improved days and night modes; and fixes minor texts.

Pokemon GO Generation 2 pets and other pets will surely bring a merrier Holidays this Christmas season.
