'Dynasty Warriors 9' reinvented as open-world; Fans Fear Homogenous Feel

By

Koei Tecmo has recently announced that ninth instalment of its "Dynasty Warriors" is going to be open-world. However, some fans feel like gamemakers are all hopping into the open-world bandwagon and fear that this Japanese hack-and-slash game would become as homogeneous as the rest.

'Dynasty Warriors 9' as Open World

According to producer Akihiro Suzuki said "Dynasty Warriors 9" will be the "rebirth" of the franchise, Gamespot reported. The new game will be grand as developer Omega Force plans to turn all of China into a single in-game map. Fans can expect all their favorite characters from "Dynasty Warriors 8" to be back for the new game.

Besides the 83 characters from its predecessors, "Dynasty Warriors 9" will also feature new characters. One of the most notable new comers is Zhou Chang who is an important character from the book Romance of the Three Kingdom, which is where DW is based on.

There are no official announcements, however, on what console will it be released on, though most believe it will be in PS4, Euro Gamer reported. Earlier this year, Koel Tecmo has already hinted that there will be a big announcement about DW this year. The last DW was back in 2013.

Open World Games are Homogenous

A lot of fans are excited on how the game would be like as an open world, especially with the timers that DW has for each of its level. However, there are other fans that are anxious with how an open world "Dynasty Warriors 9" would look like.

Some fans believe that announcing to an open world is becoming a trend among game makers these days. Fans fear that "Dynasty Warriors 9" would be homogenous and would look like one of those maps made by Ubisoft. There are other fans who say that most open world game would become boring after completing 20 of their somewhat similar side quests.

However, there are those who are excited on how the game would look like as it breaks away from its limiting levels. This is a big challenge that the creators of DW will have to over come.
