‘Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2’ Review: Plot Rehashed, Gameplay Solid But Repetitive; New 'Dragon Ball Xenoverse’ DLC Characters 2017? [Video]

By

"Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" extensive fans love the game's customization of characters and learning of special skills, but the story is basically the same from its predecessor and the missions are repetitive, lacking in depth and more interesting villains. However, Dragon Ball fans are hoping that the rumored "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" DLC characters in 2017 will bring more new moves, Parallel Quests and perhaps a tweak to the storyline to make the game even more engaging.

The "Dragon ball Xenoverse 2" basically follows the same storyline, which is why critics of the latest offering from Bandai Namco thinks the follow-up is just a rehash of the original "Dragon ball Xenoverse." Players will still be a Time Patrol recruit with the responsibility to fix any untoward changes to the Dragonball timeline.

Moreover, "Dragon Ball Xenoverse" villains, Mira and Towa do not make the plot more engaging, enough to entice gamers to pay $60 dollars for the new game. Although some players think "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" has a solid gameplay based on responsive controls, there are a good number who have transport control issue.

Due to the extensive grounds of the Conton City in "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2," players will need to drive a vehicle to explore the hub world faster and these transports can be very hard to control, Game Tactics has learned. Flying is also an option, but players will still need to get a license to do that, meaning more quests to complete.

Nonetheless, the "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" has boasted of an easy and accessible default button layout, making maneuvers like guarding and dodging easier to accomplish, according to GameSpot. Perhaps the greatest accomplishment of "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" is that it pays tribute to fans especially hardcore ones who have closely followed the animé and Manga stories.

The custom loadout added with the intrinsic special abilities enable players to design the look and fighting skills of their characters, making them feel like they are part of the story. "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" also offers a combat that is more balanced, clearer and smoother especially the Steam version, which runs at 60 frames.

Although "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" has its issues, fans of the Dragon Ball franchise still play the game because of its solid gameplay, rich visuals and character customization. Fans are hoping that the rumored "Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2" DLC character for 2017 will feature more than just Frost and Cabba, add new moves, and Parallel Quests to avoid repetitions that can be unattractive to long-time players.
