Apple’s new iCloud Photos Web App is Useless? [VIDEO]

By

Apple has a new version of iCloud Photos web app in its iCloud beta website and it seems to be a useless revamp. Users don't need it since there is a similar, or even better, native version of it in the macOS and iOS. However, this new Photos app is meant for one major thing to offer - sharing and sincing images to non-Appe users.

Improved Features for iCloud Photos

The new iCloud Photos app features better navigation tools. It has the same feel as the interface in its macOS Sierra.

The iCloud Photo app now has a sidebar for easier navigation through all the photo collection of the user. The iCloud Photo Library can be accessed through Mac or Windows computer.

The current iCloud.com albums interface is located in a tab bar right above the Photos part, which is right next to the moments of the user. The new Photo app now has a select toolbar that allows users to select photos easily and select action buttons at the upper right area to share, download, add or remove albums, Mac Rumors reported.

The redesigned Photos app is seen in the beta iCloud.com and is expected to be rolled out to the public soon, 9 to 5 Mac reported. The new Photos web app now features a horizontal scrubber display of the images before and after images are shown.

It is not Revolutionary, but it is Important

Apple doesn't usually have big announcements to herald the release of apps from their iCloud.com, since these improvements aren't that revolutionary. But these changes are essential to iCloud.com users.

However, these enhancements are not as advanced as the Photos apps in Mac and iOS. The new Photos app in iCloud.com doesn't have the sophisticated features in the iOS 10 photo app, like automatic object recognitions, Faces, and Memories.

Some users even argue that there is no need to edit photos in the iCloud Photos, since there are way better software that can be utilized in the macOS and iOS. The native version of Photos in these operating systems features plugins that are as good as Photoshop.

Users don't even need to be online to use the Photos app in macOS and iOS. The major takeaway is that the iCloud Photos web app is not meant as the primary photo app. It is just there for sincing and sharing images for non- iOS and macOS users.
