Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Frontier Smartwatch Update: Release Date, Specs, Pricing and Availability [VIDEO]

The much-awaited Samsung Gear S3 is finally hitting the U.S. shelves this coming Nov. 18, just in time for the holiday season. Pre-orders starting Nov. 6 will be shipped out on the same day.

Samsung confirmed in their press release that the watches will be available at Amazon, Best Buy, Macy's, Samsung.com and participating wireless providers including AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile, CNET reported.

In August, Samsung announced the launch of the very first smartwatch that features built-in GPS, Bluetooth and LTE, Mashable reported. The smartwatch will be available in two models; the Classic one and the Frontier edition which will both cost $350.

The two models are more or less the same. It's just that the Classic could be elegant while the Frontier is a rugged version with pre-loaded apps for outdoors.

They will also be the first smartwatch to have Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) meaning, they both support Samsung Pay.

As for the specs, both models is running on a Samsung-owned Tizen-based OS, they both come with a GPS function, its 1.3-inch display is integrated with Gorilla Glass SR + to prevent scratches, dust, and water resistant due to its stainless steel body with an IP68 rating. They also have the same Exynos chipsets, Engadget reported.

As for the storage, both have a 4GB of internal storage with 786MB RAM. Thanks to its 380 mAh batteries, the Gear S3 can last up to three to four days on a single charge. There is also a power saving mode which cuts down some functions and automatically goes on watch-only mode when it reaches 15 percent battery.

The Gear S3 is larger than the Gear S2 in its 46mm diameter case compared to 32mm size of the original Gear S2. Though Samsung clarified that they are not replacing the Gear S2 line, instead, they are adding to it, Digital Trends has learned.
