Android 7.0 Nougat Updates, News, Release Dates, Rumors: Android OS to Roll Out To Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge And Other Samsung Handsets During The Holidays; Improved Stylus Support Revealed

By

Samsung users will have a Merry Christmas when Android 7.0 Nougat rolls out on various Samsung devices this coming holiday season.  The update for Samsung's line of devices is expected since the latest Android OS has been rolling out for several smartphones already.

According to reports, Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Plus, and Galaxy Note 5 will be among the first Samsung handsets to get the update.  However, it remains unknown when the exact updates will roll out on these devices, but Samsung made earlier commitments that they will take place fourth quarter of this year.

Benchmark results

Benchmark results from GFXBench and Geekbench revealed that Samsung was already working on the beta version of Android 7.0 Nougat. Many believe that it is about time Samsung makes improvements, especially on Galaxy S7, the company's flagship device, which is still running on the old Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

SamMobile also learned that the South Korean company has been testing the Nougat software for Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in Poland. Although still in development, the OS boost is predicted to improve stylus support on the Samsung devices, according to GottaBeMobile.

Carrier T-Mobile also confirmed the Android 7.0 Nougat updates for Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. T-Mobile's website showed that these devices were in Manufacturer Development, which meant that the device will continue to go through T-Mobile certification to ensure high-quality OS on the device.

Improved stylus support

It is also suggested that Samsung will overhaul the TouchWiz UI to integrate an optional app drawer. Reports claimed that support for several major S-Pen features like the AirButton, SmartClip and Writing Buddy, will be dropped from the new OS update.

The Android Nougat is currently available on Nexus smartphones and tablets. It is expected to roll out in popular Android manufacturers, such as HTC, LG and Samsung.
