New report suggests that the release of Macbook Air and Macbook Pro 2016 is still on track. This means that Apple superfans can expect the new devices with major overhaul launched in late October.

Macbook Air, Macbook Pro 2016 specifications

Many sources claim that the new Macbook Pro 2016 will arrive alongside the revamped Macbook Air. The two devices are said to sport thinner dimension.

Macbook Pro 2016 will come with two models, 13-inch and 15-inch laptops. It will feature USB-C port, Thunderbolt 3 port, and the long-rumored OLED touch bar that will replace physical function keys.

Not only the Macbook Pro that receives an upgrade, the Macbook Air lineup will also get similar updates, MacRumors has learned. According to familiar sources, there will not be any upgrade for 11-inch Macbook Air but the 13-inch variant will get a revamp instead, Macotakara reported.

As for the GPU, there is still unclear information but analysts predict an AMD card instead of Nvidia. For the processor, both Macbook Air and Macbook Pro 2016 are likely to sport Intel Skylake.

Apple is expected to introduce the new name for the OLED strip, previously dubbed as the dynamic function row. There will also be Touch ID for login and Apple Pay.

Macbook Air, Macbook Pro 2016 release date

The month of October will come to an end in just two weeks time but Apple remains mum. Previously, the Cupertino giant announced its reschedule Q4 result conference call in Apple Investor site - moving the date to Oct. 25. Many have assumed that the shift is due to MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 2016 introduction on Oct. 27.

So far, there has been no invites sent by Apple. Will the company release the Macs quietly in a press release or will there be a huge event coming this week? We'll just have to stay tuned.
