Rockstar Games is taking a step back in time with "GTA 6" as a slew of reports claim that it will feature a vintage theme which hints at a "Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories" prequel.

Rumors are running rampant that "Grand Theft Auto VI" will be stage set in London; however this will not be a first in the "GTA" series. The debut installment was set in London, 1961 but it was developed by DMA Designs at the time.

Moreover, the setting was not justified as the game was still 2D. Since "Grand Theft Auto Vice City Stories" is set in 1984, there is a possibility "GTA 6" could go as far back in time as the 1970s. "Grand Theft Auto VI" could then boast vintage cars and clothing options for "GTA 6" players.

Although Rockstar Games has remained mum regarding the "Grand Theft Auto V" sequel and has neither denied nor confirmed the rumors doing rounds, but their release timeline could imply that the studio is already working on the next installment for the hit action-adventure game series, Neurogadget reported.

It is worth noting that the sequel did not make an appearance at Rockstar's E3 2016 presentation. However, this did not stop rumor mills from swirling speculations around "GTA 6" hinting that the purported sequel will be set in Tokyo. The rumor surfaced after someone from Rockstar traveled to Japan to study the place.

"Grand Theft Auto VI" could be set before "Vice City Stories" which would take it back in time in London 1969, thus making "GTA 6" truly vintage compared to the primeval installments of the game series, Christian Daily reported.

If the timeline would be adhered to, it could be another impending "GTA" prequel.

Rockstar is still rolling out "GTA V" DLCs as well as multiplayer expansions including the recent Cunning Stunts content. Perhaps, this could be the reason why the studio is not putting their full effort in developing "Grand Theft Auto Six."

Avid "GTA" fans should bear in mind that Rockstar has not yet confirmed the "GTA 6" rumors and speculations. Apparently, the studio will need to officially announce "GTA 6" before all the claims in the plot, timeline and setting of the game can be unraveled too.
