Electric Corvette Breaks Its Own Speed Record By Blasting A Top Speed Of 205.6 MPH

By

As the "Genovation GXE" all-electric Chevrolet Corvette set the top speed record for a street legal electric car, it made headlines in February 2016. And in just five months, the "Genovation EV Corvette" breaks the record by blasting to a top speed of 205.6 mph.

It's appropriate that Genovation Cars took this quick to wipe out its own record. The fact that the company gave an assurance back in February that more speed runs were planned in the future. But, it was uncertain as to when and where it was planning to do these runs, and it turned out, they went back to the scene of its previous record-breaking run - the Kennedy Space Center, according to Top Speed.

CEO of Genovation, Inc. - Andrew Saul, said in a statement that they are thrilled that after setting a record in February, but they were able to further enhance the performance of GXE and break their own record. The CEO also stated that they have managed to create a vehicle that is both exhilarating for drivers and sympathetic to the environment.

The pre-orders of the limited edition of the Genovation cars based on the GXE will start before 2016 will end, based on the report of PC Mag.

However, as the GXE is not exactly a mass-market vehicle, but if a person wants to own and test the speed of the car on the street, that person will need at least $300,000 to pick one up. Car enthusiasts could probably be impressed by the vehicle's performance, as the car's 44-kWh battery will provide around 120 miles of range, provided the person is driving normally and not trying to break a land-speed record, Tech Crunch reported.

Anyway, the company also has their hands on the G2 concept car, which is planned to be a pure electric and plug-in hybrid version. Tata Motors, the largest manufacturer in the Indian automotive industry, has signed on as a contractor to build the G2. Tata Motors owns the Jaguar and Land Rover.
