WWE SummerSlam 2016: Brock Lesnar Returns To The Four-Sided Ring But Who Will Be His Opponent?

By

Brock Lesnar is slated to make his return to the octagon on July 9 at UFC 200, however "The Beast" will also be making an appearance (and quite an impressive one for that matter) at WWE SummerSlam 2016.

If rumors doing rounds are anything to go by, Lesnar will be locking horns with either Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt or Kevin Owens at this year's upcoming SummerSlam.

WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc) will actually be testing the waters by allowing Lesnar to fight in the UFC, simply because his loss to Mark Hunt would damage his reputation as "The Beast" in the wrestling industry. That being said, Lesnar is a crowd puller both in UFC as well as WWE.

Lesnar made his last appearance in WWE at WrestleMania 32 when he went toe-to-toe with the "Lunatic Fringe" Dean Ambrose in a No DQ Street Fight. He is scheduled to make a comeback to the four-sided ring at SummerSlam 2016, and to WWE television at the end of July in a bid to spark his feud for the much-awaited PPV (pay per view). But the big question is, who will be stepping into the wrestling ring as his opponent?

This opens up a wide avenue of possibilities in terms who would be Lesnar's opponent at SummerSlam 2016.

Five WWE superstars who could possibly face "The Beast" at the upcoming PPV include Randy Orton, Cesaro, Kevin Owens, Sheamus and "The Eater of the Worlds," Bray Wyatt, FanSided reported.

That said, Lesnar is not expected to turn heel on his return, so there are extremely thin chances of Cesaro facing Lesnar at SummerSlam 2016. Although Sheamus may be an apt choice, he is not been booked strongly for the past two months.

This imply that either Wyatt, Owens or Orton might be the one facing Lesnar at SummerSlam 2016. They don't need to necessarily act as a babyface, but can work equally well as heels and spell trouble for Lesnar. Besides, The Wyatt Family is expected to make a return to WWE at any moment, and if they do face Lesnar at SummerSlam this year, the numbers game would definitely come into the play.

Aside from the aforementioned WWE superstars, two other wrestlers signed with the professional wrestling company, Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe are rumoured to be among Lesnar's potential opponents, SportsKeeda reported.

However, WWE is probably considering the story line for Joe and Orton for a match with Lesnar following his UFC 200 return in Las Vegas.

Citing a shoulder injury, Orton was out of action in 2015, and this year's SummerSlam seems to be the best time for "The Viper" to make his return. Taking into consideration that he is finally recovering from the injury, a potential rivalry with Lesnar would make up for a fresh story line that could lead up to SummerSlam 2016.

Although, there are very thin chances of Orton emerging as the winner of a potential Lesnar Vs. Orton clash, but he might just pull one of his old tricks to tame "The Beast."

Randy Orton, first stepped into the four sided ring in WWE i 2001 and a feud with someone of Brock Lesnar's stature seems like a fresh idea that might just work, and even bring massive following for the professional wrestling company leading to SummerSlam.

Samoa Joe, on the other hand would be an inconceivable opponent for Lesnar, nevertheless the idea might just work depending on how well the story line is depicted.
