Oklahoma vs Texas Live Radio Broadcast: Longhorns Look to Make Statement Hosting Sooners

By

With Big 12 regular season title all but out of reach, the Oklahoma Sooners (3) are just looking to build confidence heading into the postseason.

They have bounced back from a 1-3 stretch with back-to-back wins over West Virginia and Texas Tech, and now they look to make a winning streak with a road win over the Texas Longhorns (25). While Texas has struggled with inconsistency, first-year head coach Shaka Smart somehow has the Longhorns exceeding expectations.

Tipoff: 2 p.m. ET in Austin, Texas

Smart has two major opportunities to punctuate his first season with Texas, hosting Oklahoma Saturday and second-ranked Kansas on Monday. A win in either game, plus a good performance in the Big 12 Tournament could well seal Texas' trip to the NCAA Tournament.

While the Longhorns are no strangers to the NCAA Tournament, they seemed to have trouble in big games under Rick Barnes. Smart has the chance to end his first season on a resounding note.

Oklahoma will not make that easy, boasting one of the highest scoring offenses in the Big 12 and one of the most lethal individual scorers in the nation with Buddy Hield. Oklahoma also has its sights set on earning a one-seed for the NCAA Tournament, though they may have to win the Big 12 to do so.
