Oregon vs Stanford 2015 Live Radio Broadcast: Cardinal 1 Win From Clinching Pac-12 North

By

The Stanford Cardinal (7) can clinch the Pac-12 North with a win over the Oregon Ducks, but also on the line will be bolstering its case for the College Football Playoff (CFP).

Much of the focus of the CFP's two rankings has been on the Big 12, SEC West, and whether or not Ohio State really belongs in the Top Four. Meanwhile, Stanford continued to string together impressive wins.

Stanford's only loss was to Northwestern on the road, but given how well Northwestern has played this year, the CFP selection committee may consider it a "good loss." Stanford has since beaten two ranked teams and will play at least one more when it finishes its season against Notre Dame.

Stanford's defense has allowed teams to move the ball through the air, but has been a bit tougher on the run and has limited opponents to an average of 20 points per game. However, the Cardinal offense leads the nation in average time of possession, which can throw opposing offenses off rhythm and allow their defense to stay fresh.

"Efficiency is really important against Stanford," Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost said in a press conference this week. "Their offense is going to try and keep our offense off the field, so we have to take advantage of drives."
