The way to success is not a bed of roses but a series of mistakes and failures. Even the most successful people in the world have experienced failure and along the way, they learned very important lessons from getting up early to appreciating small things to staying hungry.

Don't be comfortable

This was the lesson Sara Rotman, founder of MODCo learned. She said that when you become comfortable, you cease to evolve and grow. So she advised to just have enough to survive so that you will push yourself out of your comfort zone.

Get enough sleep

If you think sleeping a few hours so you barely survive the next day is good, ask Arianna Huffington. She said that she paid a very high price the last time she went on with her daily life without sleeping.

Ask for help

Lululemon founder Chip Wilson said others may find it easy to ask for help but not for him. It took him a while to trust other and cease being a know-it-all. In a 2013 interview with Business Insider, he said people are always eager to help and that sharing control is critical to success.

Safeguard your time

David Lai, the founder of the interactive design agency Hello Design, said that the best lesson was from his father who told him to safeguard his time because it is a very "precious commodity" - something that cannot be taken back when it's gone. So he advised to safeguard your time and use it wisely.

Turn an insult into motivation

This was what real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran learned. When a former lover told her she cannot become someone else without him, she used that insult and motivated herself to push higher and make it big. She said that without that insult, she might not have been able to build her real estate empire.
