With so many pay-per-views for the year, it would be difficult to name the best 2016 WWE pay-per-view without keeping in mind all the matches that took place in each show. The two that automatically come to mind are Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania even though Survivor Series and TLC also deserve special mention.
Wrestlemania 32, according to WWE.com, had Triple H defending the WWE title against Roman Reigns as the main event and that alone puts it in the conversation for best 2016 WWE pay-per-view. The Rock also made an appearance as he pinned Eric Rowan in a record 5 seconds. The Undertaker also showed Shane McMahon that it would not be wise to challenge him in a Hell in a Cell match. Charlotte also became the first WWE Women's Champion after she beat Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch in a triple threat match with a little assistance from Ric Flair.
The Royal Rumble, according to Wrestling Inc, had Triple H winning the 30 man royal rumble match and the WWE World Title. The match also featured sheer dominance from Braun Strowman after he eliminated both Kane and The Big Show in succession. Brock Lesnar also showed his dominance by eliminating Mark Henry, Eric Rowan, Braun Strowman and Luke Harper but he got triple teamed then eliminated by The Wyatt Family after three of them came back to the ring despite getting eliminated already. This was definitely the best 2016 WWE pay-per-view.
WWE Survivor Series, also deserves the right to be called the best 2016 WWE pay-per-view as it had a main event of Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar part 2 and the result was not really what anybody had expected as Goldberg beat Brock Lesnar in less than a minute despite being away from the wrestling ring for quite a long time. It was also the first inter-brand promotion where Smackdown faced off against Raw in a series of elimination tag matches. Smackdown won the men's elimination match while Raw won the Women's and Tag Team elimination matches.© 2017 University Herald, All rights reserved. Do not reproduce without permission.
