Recent 2016 Rio Olympics results revealed that Usain Bolt has earned the ninth gold medal of his career. The Jamaican sprinter led his team to victory with a time of 37.27. This is the third straight gold in the event for the country.

"I've proven to the world I'm the greatest," Bolt said. "I can't prove anything else."

In each of the past three Olympics, Usain Bolt has swept the 100-m, 200-m and 4x100-m relays. He owns the world records for all three events.

According to BBC, Bolt confirmed last February that he would still go to the 2017 World Championships after the 2016 Rio Olympics. However, he will not be competing at Tokyo 2020.

"I'm going to stay up late and have fun," he told BBC Sport. "I never knew this would happen when I started out. My team came through for me tonight. As long as we got the baton round, it was never in doubt."

The Jamaican relay team is composed of Bolt, Nickel Ashmeade, Asafa Powell and Yohan Blake. Blake revealed that he will try to encourage the legendary sprinter to return to Tokyo 2020.

"I'm always going to bring my charisma to the sport," Bolt added. "The crowd loves the energy. Hopefully, younger athletes can understand that the sport is looking for people who are full of energy. That's what gets them going, the hype. They like to be a part of the competition. Not just watching it."

The 2016 Rio Olympics results showed Japan trailing after the Jamaican team, winning silver. Team USA came in third but was disqualified for exchanging illegally outside the zone at the first change, U.S. News reported. Canada took home the bronze medal with a national record of 37.64.

Heavy.com noted that Usain Bolt is only planning to run the 100-m and 4x100-m relay in next year's World Championships in London. Puma will continue to sponsor the Jamaican sprinter even after he retires. The company partnered with Bolt back in 2001, when he was only 15 years old.
