"Android TV" update enters its third year and there are new features coming to the set-top box. Google has released details on the three impressive features coming to Android TV:
"Android TV" Picture-in-Picture
This new "Android TV" update enables users to stream a video while also browse other content. This mode wasn't available before and this could mean that users can do two things at once; for instance, download app and perform voice search.
"Android TV" High Dynamic Range
The HDR support lets users to have the next frontier in 4K UHD video. The Tech Radar describes that this new feature will be released with "Android N". Nvidia also has a plan to integrate the technology in its device, "Nvidia Shield". This means it will be the first streaming video gadget that supports HDR. Shield is also the leading device to offer 4K solution.
"Android TV" Recording APIs
This is a breath of fresh air for developers and users. The recording functionality to live TV will let manufacturers to improve its features without worrying on digital rights management. Developers can also make apps of their own. For the users, they can record any content. So far, there is not much to say on the recording APIs feature, whether it will have limitation or more functions. But the Android Police confirms of the launch with the next "Android TV" update.
The Google I/O 2016 developer conference did not include Android TV as their biggest announcements, The Verge has learned. However, the upcoming "Android TV" update was briefly mentioned including a few new features above.
"Android TV" has delivered thousands of shows, movies, and Android apps right to your TV screen. Millions of users obtain the features from hardware partners and providers.
