Online Shop’s Founder and CEO, Terry McGinnis Promises Substantial Help for Students Looking to Start Own Businesses with Free Subscriptions
If you're a student chances are you are looking for part-time work or better yet, a side hustle. Usually these side hustles require a lot of laborious work, time and money. With the biggest qualms being the effort it takes to launch a simple online shopfront, with one of the biggest demographics for Shopify being university students, many find themselves having to learn coding, marketing and so much more - not to mention the extortionate fees that come with even the cheapest of subscription plans.
When you finally do finish setting up your shopfront, your theme you are then left having to pay surcharge on every transaction and then you have to install plugins which also often times than not require additional subscriptions.
For students who are on a very tight budget looking at starting something to make ends meet or create a brand that can provide employment for others, this immediately becomes a huge blocker. This is one of the problems founder and CEO, Terry McGinnis is aiming to solve with Online Shop.
"Our aim is to make ecommerce accessible to everyone, no matter how old or how proficient in technology you are. We're building the easiest to use, and the most affordable solution to date. Innovation is at the heart of everyone at a campus, students are always encouraged to partake in extracurricular activities, most of who aim to start a business that they can make money from and develop. It's a very noble endeavour which we want to help foster.
We had done tests with several Russell Group universities like UCL and University of Oxford, including several Ivy colleges in US like Harvard, and found that the students there support the vision and what we are trying to achieve. Providing great feedback and great results."
This aim should give services like Shopify a run for its money, offering university students one year free on the most expensive plan with support and guidance throughout the way to help foster a business centric mentality.
"We will foster entrepreneurship and help students succeed, whatever subject, whatever passion - it's our aim. They are the future of our economy, the future of our society and we want to help them foster their entrepreneurship goals. If not us, who else?"
To be able to receive this offer students have to be enrolled in a US or a UK based university and be enrolled in either a BA, MA or PhD course for at least 3 years and have a university email address and a student ID to verify. McGinnis adds "If you're accepted into the programme, you'll receive a one year membership and one-on-one support from a brand and development expert to help you develop your brand and business so you could inspire others."
A truly noble endeavour by a young, and caring entrepreneur who sees the bright minds that are being fostered at university campuses across the world and we all are for it! Good luck New York's very own, real life Batman!
