It's that time of year when you see school buses lining the streets and college kids heading back to their dorms. Don't leave for those first days of a new year without some appliance essentials.

First of all, it's important to know where to go to download some DIY appliance repair manuals so that you can fix something that goes wrong with your essential appliances instead of having to call a repairman or mom and dad for the money to replace them. In this blog, you'll find a few essential appliances for your college dorm.

An Electric Grill/Old-Fashioned Grill

Whether you're able to get out and cook on an old-fashioned grill or not remains to be seen, but you can take an electric grill with you to some dorm rooms. It's perfect for cooking everything from steaks to bacon for you and your friends.

A Single-Serve Coffee Maker

College is hard. All-night study sessions and early mornings can lead to you yawning your way through class most of the day. That's why a single-serve coffee maker is an essential appliance to take with you to college. You can quickly make yourself a cup of coffee in a morning hurry, then be out the door in a second, caffeinated and ready to go. If you're the type who drinks coffee all day long, then you might want to invest in a full-size coffee maker as well, to save you time.

A Mini Fridge

No one wants to eat out all of the time, and as a college student, you probably can't afford to. So, the obvious appliance that every dorm room needs is a mini-fridge. You can use it to keep a few things fresh, including drinks that you want to keep cold. Even if you have a meal plan and don't intend to eat your meals in your dorm room, you need a mini-fridge for your drinks and any snacks you need to keep cold, so it's a really good investment no matter how you look at it.

A Microwave

Every dorm room needs a reliable microwave. Your dorm will probably have a microwave in its commons areas, but sometimes you just want to be alone or don't want to have to venture out to heat up something when you're cramming for exams. A microwave in your room will allow you to reheat your food, coffee, and to pop the occasional bag of popcorn to enjoy with the hot cocoa from your single-serve coffee maker as well. A microwave can be used for a number of things, so make sure it's number one on your most-needed appliances for your dorm room this year.

A Top Ramen Rapid Cooker

Everyone knows that college kids tend to live off of Ramen noodles. While this is, of course, not true for every college student, it is a cheap meal that's filling if you need it. The Top Ramen rapid cooker cooks your noodles in under three minutes, leaving you free to study or get ready to go out with friends (after you eat, of course).

Make sure that whatever appliances you put in your dorm room are safe and approved by the dorm mother before you bring them to the college, just to be on the safe side.

These are just a few of the top appliances you'll need to keep in working order. Remember, the more knowledge you have, the less you'll spend, and that's essential to a college student on a budget for sure.
