Capuchin monkeys create tools like hominins, a new study has shown

A new study has shown that wild-bearded capuchins in Brazil smash rocks which produces flakes with he same characteristics as those specifically made by hominins throughout history. This finding could now make it more difficult to distinguish between man-made tools and flakes created unintentionally. The scientists observed and filmed the monkeys in their natural habitat, the Serra da Capivara National Park in Brazil. After the animals left, they collected fragmented stones which had been used just before. Furthermore, they conducted surface surveys and archaeological sites in the same area.
