Motorola Nexus 6 Scores Android 7.1.1 Nougat Update; Release Date Delayed Due To Bugs – Google [REPORT]

By

Some might have already excluded Motorola Nexus 6 in the Motorola x Google Android 7.1.1 Nougat bandwagon but to everyone's surprise, the said update is rolling out to the device next January. The similar treatment could have been neglected but the reason behind Android 7.1.1 Nougat roll out delay is something different and valid.

When the final version of Android 7.1.1 Nougat started launching to supported Nexus and Pixel devices earlier this December, fans of Nexus 6 are early to dismiss the possibility of Nougat update coming on their phones. But looking back during the Android 7.0 update, Nexus was one of the last to receive the update too. Now, history repeats itself, Nexus 6 is again the last Nexus unit to receive the Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

Bug Problems

Google is quick to clarify the reason why Nexus 6 is receiving the Android 7.1.1 Nougat late. The company noted that a last minute bug original from the phone caused the delay of Nougat roll out to Nexus 6.

Google then issued an official statement to Android Police to address the query regarding the Nexus 6 Android 7.1.1 Nougat roll out dealy:

Unfortunately, we found a last minute bug that was specific to the Nexus 6, which has caused the delay of the 7.1.1 OTA rollout. We've since fixed the issue and will be rolling out an update in early January.

Nexus 6 Android 7.1.1 Benchmarks

The Android 7.1.1 Nougat update brings several improvements to Nexus 6 features. Here are some updates to come on your Nexus 6:

  • App shortcuts
  • Support for circular app icons
  • Keyboard image insertion
  • New emojis

However, Gadgets360 noted that it is good to note that since Nexus 6 phones did not have an Android 7.1.0 update, this Nougat update holds a very important role for the devices.
