Sony has yet to announce details about the upcoming PlayStation 5 (PS5) but reports points out that something is up to the sleeves of the tech developer. Amid the massive November launch of PlayStation 4 Pro (PS4 Pro), the company could be preparing for even greater developments in the future of console gaming.

Looking at the current update integrated to the PS4 Pro system, Sony successfully puts the gap between console gaming and PC gaming experience into the thinnest portions there has been in the past years. Also taking note that the PS4 Pro is called to be the last installment of the PS4 series, a new generation of console will arrive soon in the form of PlayStation 5.

PlayStation 5 could sport the best physical component in the future since the PS4 bears Sony's attempt to match up a $900 gaming PC.

According to GameSpot, PS4 is - for now - at par with high-end personal computers. The current gaming console runs on x86-64 AMD "Jaguar' CPU with 8 cores while its GPU is a 4.20 TFLOP AMD Radeon-based graphics card. PS4 Pro also has a support 1TB storage and GDDR5 8GB of RAM.

When is PS5 coming out?

To understand Sony's plan to release PlayStation 5, we have to make a bit of time traveling. Remember when Sony first announced that PlayStation 3 technology will last a decade on its 2006 launch. But after seven years, the wait has been cut off and the PlayStation 4 was released in 2013.

Considering this trend, it is safe to assume that Sony will release PlayStation 5 sometime between 2020 and 2023. But reports dismiss the trend and claim that it may actually come on 2018 due to the development in Virtual Reality which is also the current trend for the gaming experience.

Sony has not given any confirmation about its plans for PlayStation 5. However, its appearance to the upcoming E3 might drop a major reveal about the next generation PS5. Meanwhile, YouTuber JaykingLarry has something to say in his video.
