Zuk Edge Officially Announced: Low-Priced Phone W/ Impressive Specs - Bezel-Less, Android Nougat, Snapdragon 821; Release Outside Of China [Rumor]

Lenovo  officially announced yesterday that it will release the Zuk Edge in China on January, prompting interest on the impressive specs of the low-priced phone particularly with its bezel-less design, Snapdragon 821 chipset, and Android Nougat out-of-the box. However, speculations are rife as to when will the latest Lenovo Zuk brand get a release outside of China and will it also get to India by 2017 similar to what was previously done with the Zuk sub-brand.

As promised, Lenovo announced the official launch of the Zuk Edge and looking at its specs indicates an impressive list given the lower price of the newest Lenovo smartphone under the Zuk brand. What are the key specs, features, rumored pricing and release date of the Zuk Edge?

Zuk Edge Display

The Zuk Edge has a 5.5-in. Full HD display and a 2.5D curved glass. It also sports a bezel-less design, boasting of an 86.4 percent screen-to-body-ratio. Moreover, Lenovo is claiming a 1500:1 contrast ratio and an 85 percent NTSC color coverage.

Zuk Edge Processor

The Zuk Edge will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC and the Adreno 530 GPU. It comes in two variants, the 4GB and 6GB RAM with 64GB internal storage that is not expandable. It comes with Android Nougat ZUI 2.5 out-of-the-box and has a 3,100mAh battery capacity, complemented by Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology.

Zuk Edge Camera

The Zuk Edge has a 13MP main camera with phase detection autofocus, an f/2.2 aperture, boasting of 1.34µm pixel size, and LED flash. It also has an 8MP front-facing camera.

Zuk Edge Features

The new features of Zuk Edge starts with an under-the-glass U-Touch Navigation System, which was first seen in the Zuk 72. Just below the display, is a fingerprint sensor, which can unlock the phone in just 0.09 seconds, a speed that is making smartphone analysts giddy to test according to GSMArena.

Moreover, the Zuk Edge has a built-in Heart Sensor that can measure blood Oxygen, a pneumatic altimeter and the UV light sensor. Other sensors include the accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer and proximity sensor.

Zuk Edge Pricing and Release Date

Lenovo will start selling the Zuk Edge in China beginning Jan. 1 at CNY2,299 or $330 dollars for the 4GB and CNY2,499 or $360 dollars for the 6GB variant according to AndroidCentral. As to when it will be released outside of China, rumors say that it might get a release in India also in 2017 using the Zuk sub-brand, but there are no official announcements regarding its release in the United States and other regions.
