‘Pokémon GO’ Shiny Pokémon Update: Niantic Test In Live Play Before Revealing; Shiny Pokémon In 1st Anniversary Of ‘Pokémon GO’?

By

"Pokémon GO" shiny Pokémon may appear in the game, but as is tradition, Niantic may test it first in live play before the big reveal. However, the shiny Pokémon madness may still be premature for Niantic plans to unveil the shiny Pokémon during the first anniversary of the game next year.

"Pokémon GO" players have been eagerly anticipating catching the shiny Pokémon, but so far Niantic has made no official confirmation if such creatures do exist in the game. There are various speculations revealing how the elusive and rare shiny Pokémon can be caught.

For instance, players may need to catch as many as 300 Pokémon or make other Pokémon summon others and hopefully one of these is a shiny Pokémon. The rumors may have surfaced for the "Pokémon GO" apk version 0.47.1 has the word "shiny" in its game code, but this is based on the trainers ID number calculations and the "personality value" of the Pokémon, placing the odds at only one in 8192, Forbes reported.

In the Pokémon material, there is actually quite an extensive allusion to "shiny" and "default" Pokémon. A few Generation II Pokémons have a distinct "alternate or rare coloration" or what fans call as shiny, a name that The Pokémon Company soon picked up.

Shiny Pokémons are also found in Generation IV for Pokémon Black and Pokémon White. Shiny Gyarados appeared in Episode 235 "Talkin' 'Bout An Evolution" or in Japanese, "Wataru and the Red Gyarados." The game-based Youtube series called "Episode 4: The Lake of Rage" also featured shiny Pokémon.

In "Pokémon Go," Unity is currently working on rendering a surface to mimic the distinct coloration of what can be considered as a shiny Pokémon. Unity is the engine that is utilized by The Pokémon Company for the "Pokemon GO" game.

Unity is working on texture, tiling information, color tints and more, which is indicative that "Pokemon GO" shiny Pokémon may debut soon in the game. However, it should be noted that Unity has been hard-pressed to incorporate 100 additional Generation II Pokémon in the game so a shiny Pokémon in "Pokémon GO" may not happen soon, Slash Gear has learned.

However, Niantic may test it in live play prior to making any revelation, just like it did in the one-city rollout of the "Pokémon Go" tracker system. Fans may also have a long wait before the real shiny Pokémon madness kicks in, for Niantic may plan to debut the shiny Pokémon in time for the first year anniversary of "Pokémon Go" by summer 2017.
