'MLB: The Show 17' Update: Game Features New Retro Mode Gameplay Experience, Will The Game Finally Hits PS4 Next Year?

By

Major League Baseball (MLB) witnessed a stunning historic play when the Chicago Cubs won the World Series for the first time after 108 years of champhionship drought. Months before that historic win, baseball superstar Ken Griffey Jr. has been chosen as the cover of the upcoming game "MLB The Show 17."

Griffey, 47, was elected to the MLB Hall of Fame earlier this year and is considred to be one of the greatest players to ever play in the World Series. His impressive records and stunning performance speak for that. This is the big reason why he was going to be the cover athlete for the "MLB: The Show 17" game.

However, the biggest story came at the end of the new trailer, and it's not Ken Griffery Jr. It's actually the new gameplay experience, according to Polygon

As mentioned earlier in PlayStation Blog, "Retro Mode" is a new retro gameplay experience that been inspired by the classic baseball games where players can move the pitcher across the pitching rubber.

The new features will allow MLB players to move the batter's box with ease, do some classic on-screen displays, unique sound effects and more. The game developer also added that this new gaming feature is entirely separate to the popular "Road To The Show" game modes. It's a whole new way of playing the game, something more engaging and lots of fun.

For many, this could be an amazing news, and one that is perfectly fit in a game, with Ken Griffey on the front cover of the "MLB: The Show 17."

First released on 2006, the "MLB: The Show" is a baseball game series developed for PlayStation gaming consoles. The game was developed by SIE San Diego Studio and published by Sony Entertainment. The latest entry "MLB: The Show 17" will launch March 2017 on PlayStation 4 consoles.
