Universities That Produce The Most Billionaires

Ivy League institution Harvard University is the leading producer of billionaires among colleges. It has 35 billionaire graduates who have a total wealth of $309 billion.

Forbes reported that Harvard University tops the list for the universities that produce the most billionaires. It is followed by Columbia University with 12 graduates who have a total wealth of $171 billion.

Stanford University comes in third place with 10 billionaire graduates. Their total wealth is $149.2 billion.

Cornell University, the University of Pennsylvania and Yale University all have nine billionaire graduates each. The schools' graduates have a total wealth of $38.9 billion, $82.6 billion and $45.4 billion, respectively.

Other schools on the list are New York University, University of Southern California, University of Michigan and University of Texas - Austin.

In another report by Forbes, one of the nation's youngest billionaires, Airbnb cofounder Nathan Blecharczyk, 32, is from Harvard University. He got his computer science degree in the Ivy League institution.

Other renowned graduates from Harvard are Los Angeles Clippers owner and former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, and David Rockefeller, grandson of oil tycoon John D. Rockefeller. Popular dropouts are Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

It was previously reported that Harvard University has successfully raised $7 billion for its fundraising campaign, which began in 2013. It is the largest sum ever raised in a higher-education capital campaign. The campaign is set to end by Jun. 2018.

However, more Princeton alumni actually give back to their alma mater. The school had a 63 percent two-year average of alumni who donated.

The survey also found that Harvard University alumni gave more than $650 million during the 2015 fiscal year. Princeton alumni gave 39 percent less than Harvard alumni, with $400 million that same year. Harvard may have received a greater amount in terms of alumni donations but Princeton had more alumni who donated.

According to Times Higher Education, legendary investor Warren Buffett completed his master's degree in economics at Columbia University. One of his more recent ventures is his investment to Apple.
