'Arrow' Season 5 News & Update: Black Canary Lives – Laurel Lance is Back! [VIDEO]

By

When Laurel Lance was killed in "Arrow" Season 4, fans were outraged and refused to accept it, wherein they even started petitions to bring Black Canary back. They voted Black Canary as "DC's best TV Hero," as she is after all one of the most iconic superhero in Arrow, and was once Oliver Queens's true love.

Moviepilot reported that fans were successful as executive producer Wendy Mericle finally confirmed that Black Canary is going to return for "Arrow" Season 5. Mericle said in an interview that the whole cast and crew are excited to have Katie Cassidy back as Laurel Lance.

Mericle added that Black Canary will return on Episode 510 - the show's midseason premiere. She also said, "People can leave and get killed and you can still find new and crazy ways for them to come back."

The Role of Flashpoint

As confirmed by Mericle, Flashpoint is going to be an instrumental in bringing Black Canary back to life. It is still vague and no other information is being offered but one viable option is Black Siren. It is possible that Flashpoint from Earth 2 will bring Black Siren to Star City in Earth 1; however, if that's the case, will she end up dying too? Fans are not going to be happy about that.

Another option is using the storyline from Flash where Barry reset the timeline. It makes sense because they've all crossed path several times, and since their universe is connected somehow, it must have some effect in the timeline of "Arrow" Season 5.

The Role of Black Canary

If Black Canary is going to be back as she is - Laurel Lance - her role in Oliver Queen's life remains to be seen. The Green Arrow has a new team that can help him protect the city that he loves. Will Black Canary join them? There's so much history between Oliver and Laurel - who knows, they might even end up being together in "Arrow" Season 5.
