Samsung Gear S2 Versus Samsung Gear S3: Which Is A Better Smartwatch In Terms Of Specs?

The newly announced Samsung smartwatch, Samsung Gear S3 is available in two versions: Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Samsung Gear S3 Frontier. When compared to the Samsung Gear S2, the S3 is not very far in terms of specifications.

The Samsung Gear S2 left an good impression to smartwatch lovers because of its versatile bezel and personalized watch face.  The Samsung Gear S2 provides intuitive watch experience for its users. The watch measures 39.9mm x 43.6mm x 11.4 mm and weighs 47 grams. The Classic version of the Samsung Gear S2 weighs 47 grams and has dimensions 2.3mm x 49.8mm x 11.4 mm, according to Yibada.

The Samsung Gear S3, on the other hand, measures 49mm x 46mm x 12.9mm  for both the Classic and Frontier. The Samsung Gear S3 Classic weighs 57 grams while the Frontier weighs 62 grams.Both the bezels of the Samsung Gear S3 and Gear S2 are both composed of durable stainless steel. The Samsung Gear S2 has its screen protected by Gorilla Glass 3 while the Samsung Gear S3 has screen protected by Gorilla Glass SR+, Tech Times reported.

Both the Samsung Gear S2 and S3 have the rotating bezel feature. Both also has 360 by 360 pixel resolution, however, the Samsung Gear S3 sports a 1.3-inch AMOLED screen while the Samsung  Gear S2 had a smaller 1.2-inch AMOLED screen. In terms of battery, the Samsung Gear S2 can only operate up to three days with its 250 mAh battery while the Gear S3 can last up to four days with its 380 mAh battery.

Both of the wearables have GPS connectivity options. However, the new Samsung Gear S3 Classic does not support stand-alone data while both the Samsung Gear S2 watches support 3G and the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier allows calls through 3G /LTE network.

In other news, the Samsung Gear S2 is now discounted in Amazon. Furthermore, the Samsung Gear Fit2 is also on sale, according to BGR.
