Syracuse Students Arrested Following an Altercation Outside a Bar

By

Police  arrested eight Syracuse University (SU) students for refusing to follow police orders after a fight broke out outside of Faegan's Bar, early Thursday morning.

The police  responded to a 911 call at 700 block of South Crouse Avenue around 1 a.m after a large crowd gathered outside the bar and refused to leave.

When the police arrived at the scene, they found approximately 15 people including SU students, drinking and quarrelling in a parking lot outside the bar. They were told that the group had been earlier thrown out of the bar for causing commotion.

Officers approached the wild group and asked them to leave the site but they blatantly declined. Later the group started yelling at Faegan's employees.

Moments later, the group turned on the officers and began blocking traffic by standing in the street. Officials had to deploy more police personnel on the scene to disperse around 300 people in order to restore order.

According to court papers, some of them even tried to stop officers from making arrests, shouted obscenities at them and incited the  group to violence.

Eight SU students were taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center and were arraigned later in Syracuse City Court.
