Reggie Lynch Suspended From All Team Activities? Gophers Basketball Player Arrested!

By

Reggie Lynch was arrested on suspicion of criminal sexual assault and was booked into Hennepin County Jail around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 8, the school divulged in a statement.

The Hennepin County Jail logs noted that Lynch remained in custody and was being held without bail on probable cause. He has not been charged yet.

But there's more for Lynch to worry about.

Reggie Lynch has been suspended indefinitely by the team following his arrest Sunday.

"As an athletics department and a University, we are committed to respect toward all members of the community, and we hold all of our student-athletes accountable to the highest standards," the university's athletics department said in a statement.

Minnesota basketball players have been recently making headline for all the wrong reasons and this has clearly ruined Richard Pitino's brief tenure as head coach.
Daquien McNeil was sacked from the team just last year after he was charged with felony domestic assault. Dupree McBrayer, Nate Mason and Kevin Dorsey too were booted from the team for their involvement in a leaked sex video this year.

As a result, Dorsey had to seek a transfer, according to reports on The Daily Gopher.

If things continue the same way, Pitino may end up sealing his legacy as managing a non compliant program and having nearly nothing to show in terms of on-court success.

Junior transfer Reggie Lynch sat out the 2015-16 season citing NCAA rules after transferring from Illinois State. This year, Pitino talked highly about what Lynch could bring to the team next season as a potential All-Big Ten Conference center and NBA prospect. Hoping to play closer to home, Lynch transferred to Minnesota last year and sat out per NCAA rules, reports TwinCities.

The 6" 10', 260-pound junior grew up in Edina. In high school, he helped Edina earn a third-place finish at the 2013 state tournament. Lynch averaged an impressive 9.5 points and 5.4 rebounds for Illinois State in 2014-15. He also earned All-Missouri Valley Conference honors.

Lynch's arrest further cements pattern of problems that describes Pitino's short tenure.
