Texas A&M vs SMU Live Radio Broadcast Online: Kenny Hill Thinks Offense Can Do Better Than Last Week

By

The Texas A&M Aggies (6) are looking to keep their foot on the gas pedal as they visit their in-state opponent SMU Mustangs.

Undefeated, A&M has shot up the AP rankings thanks to Kenny Hill, the sophomore quarterback already making a Heisman case, but also to a defense limiting opponents to 14 points per game. But for the home team, the 0-2 Mustangs are in desperate need of a turnaround, following their head coach's abrupt resignation last week.

Hill is taking over for Johnny Manziel, who led the Aggies into their first two seasons in the SEC. However, the team has not missed a beat in going from the predecessor to the incumbent and Hill is leading one of the best offenses in college football thus far. The Aggies are averaging 408 yards through the air and 54 points per game.

Still, the Aggies feel as though they can turn up the heat quicker than they did last week against Rice, a 38-10 win in which they only scored one first-quarter touchdown.

"I think we started off slow. We never want to start it off slow," Hill told reporters after the game against Rice, according to ESPN. "We are going to work on that and fix that and be better next week. We just weren't really clicking and we weren't executing the way that we want to. Like I said we are going to get that fixed and be ready to go."

Pending how far these Aggies go this season, their unsung hero may well be their defensive unit. They have had nine sacks in three games after totaling 21 last season, one of the lowest totals in the SEC.
