Samsung is launching a software update to its Gear S3 Classic as well as Gear S3 Frontier. The software update comes with new features that enhance the way users interact with their smartwatches.
The South Korean tech titan released the hefty software update to Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier consumers in the U.S. The update brings the Tizen OS version from 220.127.116.11 to 18.104.22.168, Tizen Experts reported.
The update for the Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier introduces new features such as additional watch faces, a Find My Device function, a new News Briefing UI, an auto-refresh option for the barometer, as well as S Voice and S health improvements. The Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch is now compatible with Spotify, BMW Connected and the Nest smart thermostat, Android Authority reported.
The update also comes along with a lot of changes. For instance, Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier users can now add new Music and Date to certain Watch faces. Also, the update makes the Samsung Gear S3 smartwatch compatible with recently launched Find My Device platform of Google.
As Samsung has just started releasing the update, it would take a couple of days until it reaches all Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier models released in the U.S. For users who want to know if the software update has already reached their wearables, these users can manually check the availability of the update.
In upgrading the Samsung Gear S3 Classic and Samsung Gear S3 Frontier, users must launch the Gear app on a paired smartphone. Users will then navigate the Settings panel to locate About Gear. From there, tap the Update Gear Software. If the latest software update is already available, users can proceed immediately by tapping the Download Updates Manually. The update is expected to have a size of 130 MB.
